Research Interests: Dr. Hammel's main anthropological interests are social structure and kinship, techniques of empirical analysis, stratification, European peasant society, archaeology, evolutionary ecology, and anthropological linguistics. His main demographic interests are anthropological and historical demography and microsimulation techniques.
